I recently took a trip to NYC for the summer and I was able to do a lot of different experiences. NYC is filled with tons of things for people to do from all price ranges so with ideas from TikTok, I tried to create an itinerary of things that I wanted to do the most. While spending a week in NYC here are the top 10 things that I did:
1) The MET
Visiting the MET is a must while visiting NYC. The MET has over 30 exhibits so there is a lot for you to go through and requires multiple trips if you want to look at them all. The museum added two fashion exhibits back in 2021, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion and In America: An Anthology of Fashion, and they will still be in the museum until Sept. 5, 2022. We were able to get both fashion exhibits done in one day and I loved how they showcased each outfit in each installation. The museum even has a rooftop bar where you can enjoy the skyline view of the city and take selfies and enjoy drinks.
One of the highlights of my trip was doing a hot tub boat tour at night with Sea The City. The boat ride is a 90-minute boat ride along the Manhattan skyline, and Hudson River, where you can see amazing views of the city and the Statue of Liberty. The tour does BYOB and provides coolers and cups. I would suggest booking a trip during the nighttime because the views from the city look amazing at night. You can enjoy drinks with your friends in a relaxing hot tub while seeing views of the city.
Known for its iconic sprinkle pool the MOIC is the perfect group activity. MOIC is a mix of an art installation and a selfie experience. The museum was all over TikTok and Instagram so we just had to try it out. The museum has seven different rooms for you to go through and try a variety of ice creams and sherberts.
4) Explore Chinatown
Chinatown is located in lower Manhattan and is a highly populated neighborhood with restaurants, chute shops, and karaoke bars.
If you are a fan of Harry Potter then you definitely should check out the Harry Potter NYC Flagship Store on Broadway. I had the opportunity to go to the Harry Potter Shop in London in Highschool and I loved it, but the NYC shop location offers a lot more. The store is two stories and filled with all kinds of merch and Harry Potter-themed food and drinks at their Butterbeer Bar. They even offer a VR experience for guests that you can book online.
6) Koryo Books
If you are a fan of KPOP then you should check out the Koryo Books Store located in Koreatown. They have a huge collection of KPOP albums from almost every KPOP group and they even sell merch. The store is also connected to a skincare store called Kosette Beauty Market where sell a variety of different Korean skincare brands.
7) Walk The High Line
If your looking for something relaxing to do then you should visit the High Line located on the west side of Midtown Manhattan. It runs through Chealse and includes views of the Hudson River in the south and the Hudson Yards in the north. The High Line is lined with beautiful gardens that give it the perfect scenery.
One of the coolest experiences I did while on vacation in NYC was creating my own perfume with the Olfactory. The Scentologist work with you to create your very own signature scent and package it into a perfume bottle. The products are high quality and all of the scents are really unique.
If you are looking to get your ears pierced or have been thinking about getting it done then I would suggest going to Studs. They are a piercing studio with over 4 locations, 3 in New York and 1 in Brooklyn. I had been wanting to get a rook piercing for so long and after seeing some videos about Studs on TikTok and I decided to try them out. The atmosphere is super friendly and they offer a wide variety of cute earring options for you to choose from for your piercings. I made an appointment to get a rook piercing done and the piercer did an amazing job.
I would definitely suggest taking the tramway to Roosevelt Island to the Graduate Hotel. The hotel has a rooftop bar called the Panorama Room where you can enjoy amazing cocktails. The rooftop also has breathtaking views of Manhattan.
