For my last Spring break in college, I decided to visit my cousin in NYC. This was my second time visiting New York and I wanted to visit as many places as possible within five days. I didn’t end up taking a lot of pictures so below is just a small overview of my NYC trip.
We took a short trip to Brooklyn and got to drive over the Brooklyn bridge. (The picture to the left is of the top of the Barclays Center.)
My cousin and I went to a speakeasy in NYC called Beauty and Essex for Sunday brunch and I loved the scenery and innovative design for the entrance. When you first walk in there are guitars hanging from the wall and jewelry displays all around the room. On the back wall, there is a door on the back wall that leads to the restaurant. The restaurant looked very fancy and the food and drink menus were aesthetically pleasing. The food was amazing, especially the red velvet waffles with cream cheese icing drizzled on top, breakfast bruschetta, and the beauty elixir cocktail.
For dinner, we went to a Mexican restaurant called “Frida” in Midtown. I would 10/10 recommend this restaurant. I loved the botanical decor from the plants hanging from the ceiling, the trees, to the mural of Frida Khalo that you see when you first walk in.
While visiting NYC I ran into a friend from school and we made a plan to hang out in Koreatown. We started the day of meeting at the Koryo bookstore where we looked at Kpop albums before heading to the Face Shop to shop for skincare products. We also went to the H-Mart to shop for snacks. After walking around we got bubble tea from KungFuTea inside Food Gallery 32 and then we both got a Korean hotdog from Jongro Rice Hotdog. I got the Potato Mozzeralla Hotdog and it was so good it took me a while to finish it though because the hotdog was bigger than expected.
On the last day of the trip, we went to the Allure store in Lower Manhattan where they sell all of the alluring beauty recommended and editor’s favorite beauty products. Each item had a QR code that you could scan and put into a shopping basket on your phone. After you were doing the shopping you paid for your items online and then someone from the downstairs would bring you items to you. Overall the store gives you a 360-degree retailing experience and as a Retailing major, I thought the idea was very creative.
