Have you been seeing more pimples on your face now that you have been wearing a face mask?
It’s time to go back to school which means wearing face coverings more often, espeacially indoors. Maskne or mask acne can be the result of several different skin conditions but is mainly caused by clogged pores. Since you already have things on the skin such as bacteria, dead skin cells, and oil wearing a mask on top of that can cause your pores to be blocked. Another possible cause of maskne is when your mask constantly rubs against your face causing friction or when you sweating you can trap humidity in the mask. Stress can aslo cause maskne.
But rest assured mask acne is treatable. There are many different ways to treat maskne:
Choose a gentle cleanser:
Aviod using harsh cleanser that contain alcohols and perfumes that can cause irritation to the skin.
Use a chemical exfoliate
Exfoliating your skin helps dissolve the dead skin cells that are on the skin’s surface and prevent breakouts from happening in the first place.
Make sure wash your mask
If you wear a fabric mask then you should make sure you wash it after every use. Dermatologist suggest washing your face mask with fragrance free lingerie detergent such as Tide’s “Free & Gentle”. Also buy a couple of mask so that way you are not relanet on the same one or two mask.
Wear less makeup
Heavy makeups such as foundation, powder, and blush can contribute to clogged pores.
Make sure you are washing your face regularly
Washing your face regularly helps remove unwanted dirt, oils, and bacteria.
Try Pimple patches or spot-treatmets.
Acne patches help treat breakouts and reduce the risk of future breakouts and skin irritation.
Overall, make sure are washing your face regularly, both before wearing the mask and before going to bed. Mositurizing your skin and wear SPF. Avoid irritating and harmful skin care ingredients that will aid in the acne forming process. Also don’t forget to wash your mask after everyuse.
