During quarantine, I spent a ton of time binge-watching Netflix shows and movies. There are so many options for different shows to watch on Netflix that it was hard for me to narrow it down. So here’s a list I came up with:
1) DARK
“Yesterday, today and tomorrow are not consecutive, they are connected in a never-ending circle, everything is connected”. – The Stranger. Dark is German Netflix tv series about time travel and supernatural elements and is by far the best sci-fi and mystery tv series on Netflix. From the casting to the cinematography the details in the show are amazing.
2) The Umbrella Academy
The Umbrella Academy is a sci-fi tv series based on an American comic book series written in 2007. The show is about 7 estranged siblings with extraordinary powers reunited by their father’s death. Throughout the series, they discover there is a looming threat to humanity, and it’s their job to stop it.
3) The Haunting of Bly Manor
If you loved The Haunting of the Hill House then you will love The Haunting of Bly Manor. The show uses many of the same actors from the first series with the addition of some new faces. This series takes place in the ’80s and is about an au pair who has to look after two orphans as supernatural things begin to uncover that something ghostly happenings in Bly Manor.
4) Black Mirror
If you love “The Twilight Zone”, then you will love Black Mirror. This tv show is like the modern-day twilight zone except for its British. A series of stand-alone stories that are not connected but all having a lesson or meaning within them.
5) Bo Jack Horseman
This show is a Netflix original about an anthropomorphic horse that was a previous sitcom star endeavoring a rebound while additionally managing fixation and wretchedness. Honestly, at first, I didn’t think that I was going to like the show, but over time the show started to get better. This show was depressing at times, but it was funny too.
6) Money Heist
I had first heard about this show on Instagram and decided to give it a try and it was really interesting. La Casa del Papel or Money Heist is an exciting heist drama that is divided into four parts and is about a group of criminals brought together by a mysterious figure called The Professor to rob the Royal Mint of Spain.
7) Nailed It!
I love baking, but when I try to bake cakes or cookies like what I see on Pinterest they never come outright. Nailed It is a baking competition show about home bakers who have poor track records in the kitchen.
8) Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
This show was recommended to me by a friend and I didn’t think I would like it at first, but it started to grow on me. Starring Ellie Kemper, the show is a sitcom about when a woman is rescued from a doomsday cult and lands in New York City. She must navigate a world she didn’t think even existed anymore.
9) The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
This show is the dark adaptation of the coming of age iconic 1996 tv show series “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”. This show is suspenseful and a remake that is worth watching.
10) Itaewon Class
A Korean drama about an ex-convict and his friends fight to make their grand dreams for their street bar a reality. This show is not your average K-drama. This show is constantly breaking stereotypes about social class inequality and gender discrimination. Overall the drama is amazing.
11) Jane the Virgin
After vowing to remain chaste until marriage, Jane Villanueva learns she’s pregnant due to a medical slip-up and has to rethink her future. Jane the Virgin is an American comedy-drama television series that started on The CW. This show is a loose adaptation of the Venezuelan telenovela Juana la Virgen, created by Perla Farías.
12) The Great British Baking Show
I am obsessed with cooking shows and Netflix’s range of food shows is amazing. The mainstream import from the UK is a long-running top choice, presently turning out week after week in its eighth cycle. This show is eight seasons about a lot of amateur bakers competing to be being the best baker.
13) How to Get Away With Murder
Six seasons of suspense-driven legal thriller about a group of ambitious law students and their brilliant, mysterious criminal defense professor. They become entangled in a murder plot that will shake the entire university and change the course of their lives. The show is about a professor named Annalise Keating, a brilliant, charismatic, and seductive professor of defense law, teaches a class called How to Get Away With Murder.
14) Gossip Girl
XOXO Gossip Girl. From stylish fashion moments to dramatic plot twist this show is another cult classic about a group of hyperprivileged Manhattan private-school kids who seem to get away with everything. Except an anonymous blogger is watching their every move.
15) Grey's Anatomy
I am obsessed with this show. I have been watching Grey’s Anatomy since 2012 when the show uses to come on Lifetime. The medical drama series focuses on a group of young doctors at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital, who began their careers at the facility as interns. With 17 seasons this show is one of the best medical drama series on television.
16) Stranger Things
It is no surprise that this show is on the list, this show is very popular. The 80’s themed tv show is about when a young boy disappears, a quiet community reveals a mystery including secret government natural supernatural experiments, and, alarming powerful powers, and one strange girl.
17) The Office
This a cult classic. The Office is one of the most popular tv shows on Netflix. Starring sitcom actors like, Jhon Krasinki, Mind Kaling, Steve Carell, and Will Ferell, this is a sitcom show that you can spend hours watching.
18) Orange Is The New Black
In this drama series, Piper Chapman past suddenly catches up to her. In her mid-30s Piper is sentenced to spend time in a minimum-security women’s prison in Connecticut for her association with a drug runner 10 years earlier. In this show tensions and problems within the US prison system are brought to the forefront.
19) American Horror Story
Created by the co-creator of Glee in 2011, this show is an anthological collection on various characters and areas, incorporating a house with a deadly past, a crazy refuge, a witch coven, a monstrosity show carnival, a spooky lodging, a had farmhouse, a clique, the end times, and a slasher day camp.
20) Marianne
This show is kind of like a horror movie that was split up into different episodes. A French horror series about a famous horror writer discovers that the evil spirit who plagues her dreams is now wreaking havoc in the real world. With only one season this show was just perfect to me.
